  Spiking in Cortical Network Models\n\nThis study examines the neuronal sp
 iking correlations in neocortical circuits\, which adapt dynamically to pr
 oduce a range of states\, from coherent fluctuations to irregular spiking 
 patterns.\nWe investigated the theoretical consequences of small-world con
 nectomes on neuronal spiking correlations\, demonstrating their innate abi
 lity to foster robust correlation in spiking activity. Furthermore\, we an
 alyzed the self-regulating properties of correlation levels in the context
  of synaptic gain control mechanisms.\nOur results reveal the intriguing c
 oexistence of irregular spiking and synchronized population events\, provi
 ding insights into the potential delicate balance of diverse coding mechan
 isms that underlie cortical information processing.
