Prospects: Germany’s largest independent research funding organisation offers funding opportunities for all career stages between doctorate and professorship. Join our online talk and get to know the DFG and its funding portfolio for postdocs. We offer an overview of all funding instruments for the time after your PhD as well as specific focus talks on the Walter Benjamin Programme, the Emmy Noether Programme and the Heisenberg Programme. We will also provide advice on how to prepare your proposal for the review process and answer your questions. PhD candidates and postdocs of all disciplines are welcome to join!
During this session, Berend Bassleer and Domenico Sauter from Mabtech will present EYRA and EYRAplex, a new bead-based multiplex solution that enables sensitive biomarker analysis with a fluidics-free readout. They will also discuss the possibility of arranging a hands-on demonstration of the instrument at a later date, depending on the level of interest from participants. The presentation will cover: 1. Principles of bead-based multiplexing using EYRAplex assays 2. A novel readout approach that eliminates the need for fluidics 3. Practical implications for ease of use, robustness, and workflow efficiency The seminar is intended for researchers working with cytokines, chemokines, or other soluble biomarkers, as well as anyone interested in multiplex assay technologies and modern immunoassay workflows, particularly those who appreciate the capabilities of Luminex assays but would prefer a solution that spares them the headaches associated with fluidics.

Just finishing your PhD and wondering whether the DFG offers funding for your next career step in academia? Either after your PhD in Germany to move on to another host institution – or after your PhD in an international context to realise your next research project in Germany? The Walter Benjamin Programme offers both options for early postdocs. In our talk, you will get first-hand information about the DFG funding organisation, the aim of the Walter Benjamin Programme, its eligibility requirements and the type, the scope and the duration of the funding. We will explain how the DFG arrives at a funding decision and give you tips on how to prepare a proposal. We will be happy to answer your questions during and after the talk. We invite PhD candidates and early postdocs of all disciplines from all countries as well as research support staff.

We would like to bring the Organoid Community in Bonn together in an interactive format, in which we offer all researchers working on organoids (or related topics, including organotypic cultures or tissue explants) the chance to either briefly introduce themselves with a single slide (aka flash talk), or give a short presentation if you already have some data. This way, we will all learn what is currently going on in the organoid field in Bonn. We could win the following scientists to present their exciting current work on organoid and tissue biology: Nicole Fischer (UKE, Hamburg) Theodore Grenier (Hubrecht Institute, Utrecht, NL) Mike Karl (DZNE & TU Dresden) Peter Loskill (University of Tübingen) Britta Trappmann (TU Dortmund) Florian Wimmers (University of Tübingen)

We aim to delve into a comprehensive array of topics, including but not limited to: • Modelling of Cellular Pathways • Modelling of the Tumor Microenvironment • Modelling of Organoids • Infectious Disease Modelling • Mathematical Biology • Single-Cell Analysis • Bioinformatics/Omics Analysis
Keynotes by Cori Bargmann, Edvard Moser, Maude Baldwin, Rosa Paolicelli and Zach Knight. As every year, our meeting also includes a student-organised Young Investigator Symposium, this year featuring a Career/Q&A Session with Leonie Welberg (senior editor at Nature Neuroscience), which is open for every attendee. In addition to two poster sessions, up to 16 slots for talks selected from the submitted abstracts are available.
University of Bonn is hosting Naturalistic Neuroscience – from perception to action and back on 28-29 May 2026. This two-day symposium will spotlight substantive research, novel neurotechnology, and theoretical underpinnings in this field. In addition to a series of distinguished keynote talks, participants will have the opportunity to present their work through oral or poster presentations, and to visit local naturalistic neuroscience and virtual reality facilities. We expect registration to open in February 2026. Stay tuned and contact nn2026@uni-bonn.de to receive further updates directly from the organisers. Registration: Expected to open in February 2026.
